ISTANBUL,(Mehr News Agency)-- Iran and Turkey inked new contracts worth 150 million dollars as the "Iran's Week" started in Istanbul, Iranian Commerce Minister, Mohammad Shariatmadari, told Mehr News here Thursday.

He added that the two neighboring countries discuss bilateral economic opportunities and development of ties. "Following visits by officials from both sides, Tehran and Ankara put expansion of trade relations top on their agenda," said the minister. Expressing satisfaction with the signed industrial and commercial contracts, Shariatmadari said, "Kavir Auto Co. of Iran and the Turkish company CVK are to establish a long vehicle manufacturing plant in Yazd, central Iran. "During the first year, Yazd plant would manufactures 1,000 long vehicles suitable for agricultural and urban purposes." According to the commerce minister, industrialists of Iran and Turkey will sign contracts for mutual cooperation in the near future. A European company also plans to invest in an industrial zone in Tabriz, East Azarbaijan Province."

Shariatmadari underlined that Iran is keen to boost its non-oil exports to Turkey, reiterating that bilateral commercial contracts are worth 150 million dollars. He expressed hope that "Iran's Week" would help the two nations expand their mutual economic cooperation.

"Iran's Week" commenced Thursday in an official ceremony attended by political, cultural, and commercial officials from both sides.
